[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] A video capturing a man causing a disturbance by throwing a sandwich and milk at a staff member who tried to stop him from eating inside a convenience store, as well as the staff member being covered in food, has become a hot topic.

According to a YTN report on the 22nd, shortly after midnight, a man without a mask entered a convenience store in Yeonsu-dong, Incheon.

The man bought a sandwich and a carton of milk, then went to the eating area and started eating. The convenience store employee tried to stop him, but he ignored the request.

Under the government's social distancing level 2.5, convenience stores prohibit eating inside the store after 9 PM, just like regular restaurants. Violating this administrative order on eating restrictions can result in fines imposed on both business owners and customers under the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act.

The employee, who repeatedly requested, "You cannot eat inside the store," eventually picked up the phone and said, "I will call the police."

In response, the man suddenly turned around and threw the sandwich he was eating directly at the employee's head.

The man shouted curses, asking, "Why can't I eat?" and, seemingly still angry, threw the remaining milk before leaving the store.

The employee was left flustered, covered entirely in food.

The affected employee explained, "If we let people eat here without stopping them, they could be fined 1.5 million won for the first offense. The customer said things like, 'Why not? I want to eat.'

The police are tracking the man who caused the disturbance based on CCTV footage and credit card statements.

The prosecution plans to review whether to charge him with simple assault or punish him under the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act after his arrest.
