Establishing a Systematic Framework for Safety Management Responsibility System and Dedicated Safety Organization Operation
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Small and Medium Business Corporation (Chairman Kim Hak-do, hereinafter referred to as SBC) announced on the 22nd that it has obtained the Safety and Health Management System (KOSHA-MS) certification from the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (Chairman Park Doo-yong).
The Safety and Health Management System (KOSHA-MS) is a safety and health system certification that evaluates the establishment of a safety and health management system based on the participation of employers and workers, as well as continuous improvement activities.
SBC was recognized for establishing a systematic safety and health management system and shifting its management paradigm to focus on safety, thereby obtaining the safety certification this time and securing external credibility for its safety management system.
Earlier, immediately after his inauguration in May, Chairman Kim Hak-do of SBC embarked on a full-scale overhaul of the institution's safety management system to establish a "safety-first management system." First, safety and health management policies were established and announced for employees, subcontracted workers, small and medium enterprises, and the public, and supervisors and safety managers were appointed in all departments to operate a safety management responsibility system.
In addition, a dedicated safety organization was established to serve as a safety management control tower, and manuals, procedures, and guidelines conforming to the safety and health management system standards were enacted to ensure that safety management could be systematically managed and operated.
Although SBC is not a government-designated safety management priority institution, it is a comprehensive service support organization for small and medium enterprises, with many customers using field organizations such as training centers, youth startup academies, and regional headquarters, making accident prevention essential.
Chairman Kim Hak-do stated, "We will operate the institution with safety as the top priority to provide employees with a safe working environment and allow customers to use SBC facilities with peace of mind," adding, "Through the establishment of the safety and health management system, we will create a safe and healthy workplace, spread a safety management culture among small and medium enterprises, and faithfully fulfill our role as a leading national safety net."
