[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] On the 21st, a couple in their 90s living in Daero Village, Seosang-myeon, Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam, visited the township office hand in hand.

The elderly couple, despite their physical difficulties, came to the township office and donated 2 million won in neighbor aid funds, asking that it be used to help our neighbors during the cold winter.

The couple, Kim Jong-yeol and Maeng Sook-hee, who donated the funds that day, are both veterans of the Korean War. They spent their younger years as a professor and a midwife, respectively, and after retirement, returned to their hometown to spend their remaining years.

Kim Jong-yeol and Maeng Sook-hee said, "We don't know if this will be the last time, but the whole country is going through difficult days due to COVID-19, and with the winter cold wave added, we hope this will provide some strength to our neighbors who are having an even harder time." They added, "We feel at ease after delivering the donation."

In response, Jung Woo-seok, head of Seosang-myeon, said, "At an age approaching 100, you must have difficulty moving around, yet you still care about those in need and came to visit us. We are grateful." He added, "We will make sure to deliver the warm hearts of the elders to those who need help."

Seosang-myeon, Hamyang-gun plans to distribute the donated funds to vulnerable groups in the area who are struggling due to the cold wave.
