[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) announced that it has completed the creation of the 'Pungnap Toseong Trail,' which highlights the historical characteristics of the Baekje Hanseong period from 2,000 years ago.

The 'Pungnap Toseong Trail' is a walking tour course utilizing the historical and cultural contents of Pungnap Toseong, the capital site of the Baekje Hanseong period. It is expected to provide new sights and experiences for residents and tourists, contributing to the revitalization of walking tourism on Pungnap Toseong and the Songpa Dullegil.

The 3.8 km trail, themed around three topics?▲Toseong Road ▲Traditional Market Road ▲Baekje History Road?has enhanced completeness through the establishment of the Pungnap Toseong BI and a highly visible trail guidance system.

Additionally, a ‘Baekje Hanseong Period Storytelling Space’ and a ‘Moonlight Walkway’ were created to add more enjoyment to the walking experience.

The ‘Baekje Hanseong Period Storytelling Space’ is a unique area featuring vivid illustrations and stories about major historical events, artifacts, and relics from the Baekje Hanseong period. Based on historical records such as the Samguk Sagi, it was produced to incorporate stories of 15 historical events?from the achievements of kings to governance systems and maritime exchanges?as well as stories about five artifacts and relics including Pungnap Toseong, Mongchon Toseong, and Seokchon-dong Ancient Tombs in Songpa-gu along the trail.

Walking along the fortress walls, visitors are given the opportunity to appreciate the historical stories and the value of artifacts and relics that might have been easily overlooked.

Furthermore, using the shape of Baekje Hanseong period roof tiles and solar power, the aging walkway was transformed into the ‘Moonlight Walkway.’ Named after the ‘Cheongjaun’ (blue and purple cloud) recorded in the Samguk Sagi under King Goi, the walkway was enhanced with convenience facilities such as Cheongunmak and Jaunmak (shade shelters) and benches, allowing visitors to rest while feeling the atmosphere of Baekje.

The 'Pungnap Toseong Trail' also connects with the Songpa Dullegil. Three linked routes including Seongnaecheon Road and Hangang Road of Songpa Dullegil were selected, and signboards representing major facilities worth visiting in Pungnap Toseong were installed to enable easy access to every corner of Songpa-gu.

Park Seong-su, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “Pungnap-dong is a region with the potential to become a premium historical and cultural city where cultural heritage and modernity coexist. We will continuously develop content that allows people to easily and enjoyably experience and explore history, creating the Pungnap Toseong Trail where the joy of walking and the charm of history can be felt together.”

Meanwhile, the district plans to actively promote the value of Pungnap Toseong by utilizing historical and cultural contents like the Pungnap Toseong Trail. When the ‘Pungnap Toseong East Fortress Wall Park,’ scheduled for completion in June 2021, is finished, it is expected to harmonize with the Baekje Hanseong period storytelling and guidance system projects, simultaneously enhancing residents’ quality of life and turning Pungnap Toseong into a tourist attraction.
