[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) announced on the 16th that the second pledge among the ongoing pledge projects, the 'Learning Songpa' sector, has achieved a 73.7% completion rate, surpassing the overall pledge fulfillment rate of 70.7%.

Learning Songpa, which falls under the education and welfare sectors, selected a total of 19 projects, among which 14 projects such as 'Support for Youth Cultural Activities,' 'Installation and Support of Smart Small Libraries,' 'Guaranteeing Lifelong Learning Rights for the Disabled via the Internet,' 'Strengthening After-school Care,' 'Operation of 24-hour Child Safety Care Services,' and 'Operation of Maternal Health Promotion Center for Childbirth Support' have been completed ahead of schedule.

The remaining five projects, which are progressing normally, are also proceeding smoothly according to the step-by-step target plans.

The 'Machun Youth Training Center Facility Environment Improvement' has completed the ordering of design services for functional reinforcement construction, and the 'Installation of Elevator at Machun Station' is currently undergoing basic and detailed design services, with project completion expected within the term.

The district has established Songpa SSEM (Songpa Smart Education Model), its own education platform, with the core vision of 'No.1 in Jobs,' 'No.1 in Education,' and 'No.1 in Quality of Life.'

In connection with this, the 'Human Library Lending People' project has received positive responses as it allows the transfer of professional knowledge, experience, and life wisdom from various figures without going through books. Approximately 555 personnel, including former national track athlete Im Chun-ae, poet Na Tae-ju, and architect Seo Hyun, have been secured, and the human library is also lent through the Songpa SSEM YouTube channel.

Additionally, 155 'Visiting Human Library' mentors met with 1,900 students a total of 244 times at emergency care classrooms such as schools and Songpa Care Centers. Over 40 online contents and class kits were also produced, providing diverse educational opportunities to 13,000 students across nine elementary schools.

The 'Installation and Operation of Toy Libraries for Children' also includes meticulous care for families with infants and toddlers. Large-sized toys such as baby gyms, slides, and baby cars are managed separately from other rental items, with delivery and collection services provided.

Especially in response to the COVID-19 situation, thorough disinfection and individual packaging were implemented, along with over 6,000 cases of non-face-to-face rental services using 'drive-through and walk-through' methods.

Meanwhile, Songpa-gu is making every effort to attract the Korea National University of Arts, a long-cherished wish of its residents. It is the only competing city to have formed a dedicated attraction team and has expanded and reorganized the 'Korea National University of Arts Resident Attraction Promotion Committee' by recruiting new figures such as prominent social figures related to the arts.

It is also forming consensus both internally and externally by signing a business agreement with the Korea Federation of Artistic & Cultural Organizations and is actively consulting with related institutions such as Seoul City, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Korea National University of Arts.

Park Seong-su, Mayor of Songpa-gu, emphasized, “Songpa-gu has the highest number of infants and toddlers among Seoul’s autonomous districts, so creating an educational environment where everyone can feel safe is more important than anything else,” adding, “We will make every effort to complete the attraction of the Korea National University of Arts and help Songpa leap forward as an educational and cultural city where future talents grow.”
