[Asia Economy Reporters Seongpil Jo, Byungseon Gong] "If you hand over Jodusun to us, we will deal with him directly"
On the afternoon of the 11th, in front of Nambu Prison in Guro-gu, Seoul, the words of Ahn Jeong-gwon, CEO of the YouTube channel 'GZSSTV,' echoed through speakers. On the day before the full release of child sex offender Jodusun, Ahn and about ten others held a rally in front of Nambu Prison, where Jodusun is incarcerated, condemning the release of sex offenders. They plan to continue the rally all night until the morning of the 12th, when Jodusun is released.
Ahn said, "The people must judge Jodusun," adding, "We need to set a precedent to make sure such people cannot live properly, so that copycat crimes do not occur."
He also emphasized, "Regarding the rights of rapists, the probation office tracks their location with electronic anklets, but this should be shared so that all citizens can track them," and said, "If a public app is developed to inform all citizens of the movement routes of sex offenders, wouldn't it be possible to avoid sex offenders wearing electronic anklets on their ankles?"
Introducing themselves as "people who deal with communists," Ahn claimed, "Choo Mi-ae (Minister of Justice) and Moon Jae-in (President) are so obsessed with prosecutorial reform that they are releasing Jodusun into society," and insisted, "President Moon Jae-in and Minister Choo Mi-ae should come here and apologize to the people." He also used harsh insults such as "Moon Jae-in XX" and "Choo Mi-ae XX."
On the same day, the Ministry of Justice announced that Jodusun will leave the prison after 6 a.m. on the 12th and will be transported by official vehicle to the Ansan Probation Office near his registered address. Normally, release occurs after 5 a.m. on the release date, but in Jodusun's case, the release time was adjusted considering unexpected situations and compliance with COVID-19 quarantine measures. A Ministry of Justice official stated, "If he returns home using public transportation, there is a very high possibility of unexpected incidents such as physical clashes with citizens during transit," and added, "There are many cases where probation officers accompany by vehicle due to physical difficulties or other reasons."
Ahn called this procedure a "privilege" and plans to file a complaint against the warden of Nambu Prison if Jodusun is released using an official vehicle.
He said, "Whether Jodusun gets slapped is his own responsibility," and added, "Providing a vehicle to transport Jodusun itself is a privilege." Ahn also said, "We will finish Jodusun here. If we do not achieve satisfactory results here, we will move to Jodusun's home, hold a rally for 3 nights and 4 days, and stir up Ansan with a car parade."
