[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Audi Volkswagen Korea is strengthening its electrification strategy by launching eight electric vehicle models in the domestic market over the next three years, including the Volkswagen ID.4 and Audi e-tron Sportback 55.

On the 11th, Audi Volkswagen Korea held a digital media briefing to share the achievements of the past three years and announce its future mobility strategy. On this day, Audi Volkswagen Korea unveiled two new electric vehicles scheduled for release next year, the Audi e-tron Sportback 55 and Volkswagen ID.4, and introduced the overall strategic direction of the group.

First, the electrification strategy involves introducing eight new electric vehicle models in Korea over the next three years at the group level. Volkswagen launched the pure electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) ID.4 in 2022, and Audi will release the coupe-style C-segment crossover utility vehicle (CUV) e-tron Sportback 55 next year.

The Volkswagen ID.4 is a compact electric SUV developed based on an electric vehicle-dedicated platform, capable of fast charging at 125kW, allowing it to charge up to 80% in 30 minutes. The Audi e-tron Sportback 55 features 'virtual side mirrors' that replace traditional side mirrors with cameras and supports 150kW fast charging, enabling 80% charge in 30 minutes.

Next year, the four brands under the Audi Volkswagen Group (Audi, Volkswagen, Lamborghini, Bentley) will launch more than 20 new and facelift models and carry out 100 certification projects. Audi will introduce 17 new models, Volkswagen 3 models, Bentley 2 models, and Lamborghini 1 new model.

Additionally, Audi Volkswagen Korea is accelerating the introduction of software-driven mobility services based on big data. To implement new services, the group has established a dedicated organization called 'Digitalization and Customer-Centric Experience.' Following the successful launch of Audi's digital service 'Audi Connect' last year, Audi Volkswagen Korea has been providing various services and functions tailored to the Korean market, including remote vehicle control and emergency call and dispatch services.

Meanwhile, this year Audi Volkswagen Korea launched 54 models across its four brands and is expected to achieve annual sales of approximately 42,000 units, more than double the previous year. To contribute to Korean society, the company plans to invest 5 billion KRW over the next two years and continue social contribution activities focused on education and the environment.

Rene Koneberg, President of Audi Volkswagen Korea Group, emphasized, "We will continue our growth momentum based on competitive new vehicles, new mobility services, and electrification strategies, while actively engaging in responsible activities in education and environmental sectors to promote sustainable mobility changes in Korea."
