Passed 234 Detailed Criteria Including Information Security Management System and Protection Measures Requirements
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Backpacker (CEO Kim Dong-hwan), which operates the online handmade market Ideas, announced on the 10th that it has obtained the Information Security Management System (ISMS) certification, supervised by the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) under the Ministry of Science and ICT.
ISMS is a system that reviews and certifies whether a company's series of measures and activities for customer information protection and personal information protection comply with nationally recognized standards. To obtain certification, companies must satisfy 234 detailed criteria, including 16 items in 4 areas of establishing and operating an information security management system, and 64 items in 12 areas of protection requirements.
Backpacker explained that for the ISMS certification audit, it strengthened its security system company-wide over nine months by revising overall information security policies, guidelines, and conducting security risk analysis. In particular, it is conducting education focused on expanding the internal information security culture and regularly enhancing employees' security management levels and awareness.
Kim Dong-cheol, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of Backpacker, said, "We expect that obtaining the ISMS certification will help raise Ideas' information security level and trustworthiness," adding, "We will not spare efforts to raise employees' security awareness and strengthen the information protection system."
