[Asia Economy reporters Lee Ji-eun and Lim Chun-han] Not only the People Power Party and the People Party, but also former lawmaker Lee Jae-oh, former Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Moon-soo, former Liberty Korea Party leader Hong Joon-pyo, and Jeong Gyu-jae, CEO of Pen & Mike, gathered in one place and raised their voices, saying, "Let's unite our efforts to end the Moon Jae-in administration."
Former lawmaker Lee said on the morning of the 10th at the 'Joint Meeting of Party and Civil Society Representatives to End the Tyranny of the Moon Jae-in Administration' held at the Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul, "It is a point of reflection that we (the broad conservative forces) have not formed a united front against the dictatorship."
Lee, who leads the broad conservative civic group National Integration Council, has previously held several joint meetings of parties and civil society organizations advocating criticism of the Moon administration and conservative unification. He said, "Putting aside our differences, let's all unite to end the 'Moon Jae-in dictatorship,'" adding, "It seems that today is the first time that the People Power Party and the People Party, which lead the opposition, have willingly agreed to participate."
Joo Ho-young, floor leader of the People Power Party, and Lee Tae-gyu, secretary-general of the People Party, also attended the meeting. Floor leader Joo said, "South Korea is experiencing a devastating situation it has never faced before," adding, "Although there may be different views on the recognition of reality and remedies, there is no disagreement on the early termination of the Moon Jae-in administration."
Secretary-General Lee said, "Everyone shares concerns and worries about the incompetence and tyranny of the Moon Jae-in administration, but whether public sentiment can unite under the broad opposition is a completely different issue," adding, "I hope this will be an opportunity for the public sentiment that has left President Moon to gather under the opposition and firmly reestablish the country once again."
Former leader Hong also attended and said, "The conservative right-wing camp has been torn apart since the impeachment of former President Park Geun-hye, blaming and pointing fingers at each other, and fighting among ourselves," adding, "This meeting, where all conservative right-wing people gather and unite at this point, is quite meaningful." Former lawmaker Yoon Sang-hyun said, "We are too accustomed to politics of subtraction," adding, "I hope our right-wing will gather once and go out with a strong consciousness to practice politics of addition, not subtraction."
Former Governor Kim, who represents the 'Taegukgi faction,' said, "There has been no opportunity to meet frankly and discuss 'how to save the country.' Especially, the People Power Party calls the Gwanghwamun faction far-right, so there is nothing more to say," adding, "I urge that this meeting be convened once a week inside the National Assembly."
On this day, the joint meeting of civic groups decided to form an organization for the broad conservative camp to fight against the administration. Candidate names for the fighting organization included ▲Emergency National Coalition to End Tyranny and Achieve Democracy ▲National Coalition for Moon Jae-in's Resignation ▲ National Union for Early Resignation of the Moon Jae-in Administration.
There were also voices of concern about the People Power Party's participation in the broad conservative fighting organization. Jeong, who is running for the Busan mayoral by-election, said, "The result of unification rather made the People Power Party a 'cuckoo's nest,'" adding, "I am most worried that if we create such an organization again, it will justify the 'Kim Jong-in leftist party' again."
