'Yeongdeungpo-gu Social Economy Festival Social Pocket' Held

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Chaehyun Il) will hold the ‘2020 Yeongdeungpo-gu Social Economy Festival, Social Pocket’ for a total of 9 days from the 14th to the 22nd to promote and sell products and services of social economy enterprises in the region.

The ‘Social Economy Festival’ is a festival prepared to share the district’s vision and policy projects on social economy with residents and to promote excellent products of social economy enterprises. It has been held annually since 2013.

This year’s Social Economy Festival will be held non-face-to-face under the theme ‘Social Pocket, a small Yeongdeungpo market in my pocket’ considering the COVID-19 situation.

Accordingly, the district prepared a new concept online shopping event where products and services of social economy enterprises are promoted live and orders and payments can be made at once through real-time communication via Grip, a domestic live commerce specialized application.

Also, to encourage participation and expand sales channels of service-providing companies that previously participated in the Social Economy Festival through experience programs, various services in the form of gift certificates and consultation tickets will be sold.

Participating product sales companies in this event include ▲ Petit Fleur, producing domestic wheat products such as muffins and tofu cookies ▲ Aju Healthy Whisper, selling snack sets such as jujube chips and scorched rice chips ▲ Cafe Timor, selling capsule coffee and cacao tea ▲ Five Sense, producing growth cards and eco-friendly albums ▲ Mano Company, producing emotion cards and storybooks ▲ Leadric, selling health masks and eco-friendly rice.

Service providers include ▲ Art Healing Social Cooperative, providing theatrical psychological counseling ▲ Plankit IT Cooperative, providing e-book consulting for startups and side jobs ▲ Yoonsul Care, providing mentoring for cancer patients ▲ Korean Art Psychological Counselor Social Cooperative, providing art psychological counseling and love language couple counseling, among a total of 10 social economy enterprises introducing and selling their products and services.

Also, the Yeongdeungpo social economy joint brand ‘Popogre’ package products launched last year and the ‘Yeongsijang Project’ set products from Yeongdeungpo traditional market can be found together.

The ‘Popogre’ package products consist of a food set including fair trade coffee, dried ginger, and cookies, and a couple scarf set with warm and fresh designs.

The ‘Yeongsijang Project’ set products include snacks with dried seafood, a representative product of Yeongdeungpo traditional market, and a sesame oil set.

This year, since the event is operated in a live home shopping format to prevent the spread of COVID-19, two-way Q&A using real-time chat windows and prompt feedback will also be provided.

In addition, various events such as discounted sales of set products and gift giveaways for first-come-first-served purchases will be held.

Detailed information about participating companies and products, including broadcast schedules, can be found on the official Popogre website.

Yeongdeungpo District Mayor Chaehyun Il said, “The ‘Social Economy Festival’ is a place to realize social economy by promoting good consumption in the region and social values of trust and cooperation,” and added, “I hope this ‘Social Pocket’ event will be a great help to social economy enterprises struggling to secure marketing channels.”
