orcrew Wins Grand Prize at 2020 it-Award OR Crew

Design studio OR Crew announced that it won the grand prize in the brand package category at the it-Award, a design award jointly hosted last month by the Korea Design Industry Association and Design Jungle Co., Ltd.


The it-Award, jointly hosted by the Korea Design Industry Association and Design Jungle Co., Ltd., is an event representing the design industry, where the best designs and projects of the year are selected and awarded through fair judging by experts representing the design industry (CEOs, etc.) among candidates recommended by design media reporters and design industry field experts as well as those who applied themselves.


With this award, OR Crew has swept major domestic and international design awards. Starting with the Red Dot Design Awards in 2017, it has won European design awards including last year’s German iF Design Award (International Forum Design Award), and following last year’s Japan Good Design Awards, it has dominated awards across Europe and Asia.


In particular, the 2017 Red Dot Design Award, one of the world’s top three design awards, is a highly credible award nicknamed the "Oscar of the design world," with the Luminary (overall grand prize) given to only one team among the winners.


Being among the Luminary Last 3, rather than the main prize, was the second time for a domestic team after the Hankook Tire design team, and it was quite unusual for a small design studio rather than a large corporation to be nominated.


An OR Crew representative said, “OR Crew basically started as a spatial design group and has now realized the importance of integrated brand formation beyond spatial design, expanding its scope to design all visual elements at the touchpoints where the brand meets customers.” He added, “Many elements that make up a brand?such as space, product design, logos, symbols, naming, packaging, photography, video, concept colors, and sound?have so far been treated as separate designs, making it difficult to deliver a consistent message to customers despite being one brand. Therefore, OR Crew aims to consistently express the brand’s philosophy and identity through various visual elements including space when carrying out client projects, with the purpose of delivering the brand’s message to everyone.”
