[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] Singer IU (real name Lee Ji-eun) revealed a conversation with her younger brother Lee Jong-hoon.
On the 7th, a video titled "Ji-eun as seen by Ji-eun" was uploaded on IU's official YouTube channel 'Lee Jigeum'.
In the video, IU said, "It was difficult to arrange. I will introduce my younger brother Lee Jong-hoon."
Lee Jong-hoon introduced himself, saying, "Hello. I am Lee Jong-hoon, the younger brother of the current top Korean hip-hop artist IU, the actress Lee Ji-eun who will win an Academy Award in 10 years, and the human Lee Ji-eun who is being interviewed today."
Lee Jong-hoon said, "Since you probably know a lot about singer IU or actress Lee Ji-eun, the topic I prepared for the interview is to ask about the person Lee Ji-eun as the closest blood relative."
In response, IU said, "I personally requested this. I wondered who would be best to interview the human IU, and since this friend is studying hard and learning a lot, I hoped he would do well and asked him."
Lee Jong-hoon first asked IU, "What kind of person is Lee Ji-eun who is not a singer, actress, or celebrity?"
IU answered, "If you look at what remains after excluding the role of IU, I am quite lacking. When I think about what I am good at besides work, there really is nothing. Washing dishes? That's about it. I don't have much life experience. To answer simply, I am a very lacking person."
Lee Jong-hoon then asked, "You said you are a lacking person, but what do you lack the most?" IU replied, "I feel lacking in all aspects except work. I want to ask you in return, as my younger brother, what do you think I lack the most?"
Lee Jong-hoon said, "Personality? Family love?" which made IU embarrassed.
IU said, "My brother has been studying abroad since he was a first-year high school student, 17 years old. We actually haven't had many chances to talk, and before that, we were naturally awkward. But what I wonder is, if you hadn't gone to study abroad, would we have been less awkward?"
Lee Jong-hoon revealed, "I lived as if I was caught by a mouse."
IU said, "I feel sorry about that. The sibling hierarchy is decided in childhood, so I think it just continues like that."
Lee Jong-hoon expressed, "I hope our family love deepens a bit more," and emphasized, "I hope people understand how much a younger brother's devotion to his older sister is."
He continued, "Have you achieved your dream, or are you still running toward it?"
IU said, "I have achieved my dream," but added, "Next year is my last year in my twenties. My closest dream is to finish my last twenties splendidly. The album I am preparing now is part of that, and there are things I want to do next year."
When asked, "Will there be a big difference when you turn thirty?" IU answered, "I hope so. Because since I was young, I had more romantic expectations for thirty than for twenty. I had a vague confidence that I would be really cool when I turned thirty," and added, "I still have expectations for thirty, and I hope I change a lot when I turn thirty. I hope I do."
