Hanwha Techwin "2021 Video Security Trend is 'R.O.D.E.O'"

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Hanwha Techwin announced on the 7th that it has defined the key topic to watch in the video security industry next year, the Year of the Ox (Sinchuknyeon), as R.O.D.E.O and is conducting its business accordingly.

Hanwha Techwin first predicted that edge computing will become the trend (Ready for the era of Edge Computing) in the video security field. In video security, 'edge computing' refers to cameras independently processing and analyzing various information they acquire before transmitting it to the server. For this, the performance of the system-on-chip (SoC), which can be considered the 'brain' of the camera, is crucial. Hanwha Techwin has been steadily improving camera performance with its self-developed SoCs, including the 'Wisenet7' launched this year.

Next, as the number of security cameras increases and the volume of collected information grows vast, it is expected that the cloud will continue to grow (Ongoing trend, Cloud). Utilizing the cloud makes it convenient to manage numerous cameras and allows faster analysis of the collected data. In line with this, Hanwha Techwin plans to introduce Device Cloud, which enables real-time monitoring of cameras, and Wisenet Insight, a comprehensive camera video analysis solution.

With the increase of video security equipment-based infrastructures such as smart cities and smart factories, a safe cybersecurity environment without worries about hacking (Don’t worry about cyber hacking, Cybersecurity) is emerging as a key issue. Hanwha Techwin explained that it is applying various cybersecurity features to its products accordingly.

Video security companies are recently participating in open platforms (Everyone can join in, Open Platform), aiming for compatibility and linkage among various products and solutions. Therefore, it is expected that in the future, customers will be able to simply add desired functions to security equipment as easily as installing applications on smartphones. For example, five global security companies?Hanwha Techwin, Bosch, Milestone Systems, Pelco, and Vivotek?plan to establish an open platform called 'OSSA' (Open Security & Safety Alliance).

Globally, laws related to personal information are being strengthened, such as Europe’s 'General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)' and the United States’ 'California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)' (Only when I allow it, Privacy). In Hanwha Techwin’s case, it protects personal information safely by applying a privacy masking function that automatically mosaics the faces of individuals captured on video. Additionally, when using functions related to personal information, users are notified of legal content and usage guidelines and must agree to comply with them.
