[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Eun-young] BJ Oejilhye, wife of AfricaTV BJ Cheolgu, apologized for defending her husband's inappropriate remarks.
On the 5th, Oejilhye explained through her Instagram, "I was also broadcasting at the time of the Cheolgu controversy, so I did not know the facts accurately," adding, "I could only understand the broadcast situation through chat, and I was convinced it was a provocation, which led me to make the (controversial) remarks."
She continued, "After many people understood the situation, I am telling you that I made the (controversial) remarks," and "I sincerely apologize to everyone who was offended by my remarks."
Earlier, on the 4th, Oejilhye caused controversy by saying, in response to questions about her husband Cheolgu's inappropriate behavior, "Don't be ridiculous. I said it was Park Miseon."
She added, "He's trying to do something no matter what, but he lives well anyway. Don't falsely accuse him. People say it's a big problem, but it's okay. If (the broadcast) gets suspended, he can just take a break, and I'll keep broadcasting, so I'll take the heat for that."
Regarding Cheolgu appearing in real-time search rankings that day, she retorted, "How do you do real-time search rankings? It will calm down anyway."
Meanwhile, on the 3rd, during a live broadcast on Africa TV, when BJ Aegyo-yong said Cheolgu "looks like Hong Rok-gi," he responded by saying, "Park Jiseon is XX," causing controversy. When viewers protested, calling it 'disrespect to the deceased,' he dodged by saying, "I said Park Miseon," but protests continued with comments like "Is it okay if it's Park Miseon?"
In response, Park Miseon posted a photo of an article about Cheolgu on her Instagram and strongly criticized, "Who are you? Before criticizing my appearance, look in the mirror and then talk. I've experienced all kinds of things in life. Think before you speak; that's why you have a brain."
As Cheolgu's inappropriate remarks came under fire, his mother apologized, saying, "Cheolgu did something wrong again. I'm sorry. I'll take the blame," but also added, "I hope those who curse him ask their close acquaintances if they have ever lived without making mistakes," which fueled the controversy. Furthermore, his wife Oejilhye received criticism from netizens for remarks like "Don't be ridiculous. He lives well anyway."
Netizens reacted to their verbal controversies with comments such as, "Please watch your words. Do you think words are everything?" and "There are too many controversies; it seems they no longer reflect on their actions."
