[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Last Order, a food and beverage discount platform, announced on the 5th that it will join forces with Seongbuk-gu to revive the local economy weakened by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Last Order is an app service that connects restaurants and consumers by selling food that would otherwise be discarded at the end of the day through discount sales. It provides real-time information on discounted sales of products not sold on the same day at neighborhood restaurants, convenience stores, and more. When users purchase desired items through the app, they can either dine in or pick up the food by packaging it at the store.
From the 23rd of last month to the 20th of this month, Last Order is conducting a special promotion targeting restaurants using Last Order in the Seongbuk-gu area for one month. During the promotion period, new restaurants joining the platform are exempt from entry fees and usage commissions, and users are offered benefits such as discounts of up to 65% and lottery events.
Until the 16th of this month, delivery service is also provided for some Seongbuk-gu stores. Last Order explained that this was to enhance convenience to help both small business owners and consumers practice social distancing smoothly in situations where dining in at stores is difficult.
A representative from Last Order said, "Starting with Seongbuk-gu, we hope to collaborate with local governments to carry out various promotions that can help neighborhood commercial districts nationwide."
