On the 7th at 2 PM at Raonjena Hotel... Recorded Video to be Broadcast on YouTube and Naver Blog
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongwook Park] Daegu City announced on the 5th that it will hold a public healthcare talk concert along with the launch ceremony of the Public Healthcare Support Group at 2 p.m. on the 7th at the Raonjena Hotel in Beomeo-dong.
The event will begin with the launch ceremony, followed by a special lecture titled "Understanding Public Healthcare" by Professor Kyungsoo Lee (Yeungnam University College of Medicine) and "Citizens and Public Healthcare" by Professor Chulyoung Choi (Daegu University College of Law, Chairman of Daegu Citizens Center).
Afterwards, a free-form talk concert will be held with various citizen panels including youth, community activists, office workers, entrepreneurs, cultural artists, and volunteers, discussing topics such as "Public Healthcare as Perceived by Citizens" and "The Role of Citizens in Public Healthcare."
At the event site, only the organizers, experts, and citizen panels will attend while adhering to quarantine guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The recorded video will be broadcast later through YouTube, Facebook, and Naver Blog.
Kim Jong-yeon, head of Daegu City's Public Healthcare Support Group, stated, "Most citizens perceive public healthcare as unrelated to themselves and difficult to understand, but to guarantee the health rights of Daegu citizens through strengthening public healthcare, citizens must be at the center. We will strive to improve citizens' awareness and expand participation in public healthcare going forward."
Meanwhile, Daegu City enacted the "Ordinance on the Establishment and Operation of the Public Healthcare Support Group" last October and has been operating the Public Healthcare Support Group since July 1 through a consignment agreement with Kyungpook National University Hospital.
Composed of seven members, the Public Healthcare Support Group serves as a think tank that analyzes the overall status of healthcare, develops Daegu-tailored policies, and establishes a public healthcare cooperation system. There are 12 such support groups nationwide. This talk concert involving citizen participation is the first attempt among public healthcare support groups across the country.
