On the 4th, Korea Cyber University announced that it is recruiting new and transfer students for the first semester of the 2021 academic year until January 7th next year.
Korea Cyber University, established by Gwangdong Academy with a 70-year tradition, was founded in 2003 and will celebrate its 18th anniversary next year. Korea Cyber University was selected as an excellent university in the comprehensive evaluation of distance universities, receiving the highest grade in management, administration, and educational performance fields. In 2009, its status was elevated from a university under the Lifelong Education Act to a four-year comprehensive university under the Higher Education Act.
Korea Cyber University offers all educational courses, from classes to exams, entirely online. Housewives, working professionals, and anyone can study at their preferred time and place, resulting in high student satisfaction. Graduates can obtain a bachelor's degree from a four-year university upon graduation, and also acquire various national certifications such as Level 2 Social Worker, Level 2 Childcare Teacher, and Level 2 Lifelong Educator.
One of Korea Cyber University's strengths is that its faculty members are industry experts in their respective fields. Professors are specialists who have long been active in their professions while teaching students, providing education on the latest trends including major issues and industry developments related to their departments, as well as practical, field-oriented training.
For these reasons, Korea Cyber University attracts a diverse range of students every year, from young professionals to working adults and full-time housewives. This year, the university has made significant efforts to enhance the quality of online course content in preparation for the post-COVID-19 era. Notably, the development of a learner-centered, state-of-the-art smart online classroom was completed in the first half of this year, and in November, it won the grand prize in the Cyber University category of the 'Web Award Korea 2020' education sector hosted by the Korea Internet Professionals Association (KIPFA), proving its excellence.
Additionally, Korea Cyber University was selected for the 2.5 billion KRW '2020 Adult Learner Competency Enhancement Short-term Curriculum Development Project,' overseen by the Ministry of Education and managed by KERIS (Korea Education and Research Information Service), recognizing its capability in educational content development from professional institutions.
Korea Cyber University is also well-known for offering over 30 types of on-campus scholarships for working professionals, full-time housewives, active-duty soldiers, social service agents, and persons with disabilities, which can be maintained until graduation without separate academic requirements. Furthermore, students can receive overlapping benefits with the National Scholarship from the Korea Student Aid Foundation, significantly reducing tuition burdens and preventing students from dropping out due to financial reasons.
In line with recent social needs and trends, the university has newly established the Department of Elderly Welfare and the Department of Internet Broadcasting. The Department of Elderly Welfare trains senior experts who can actively respond to domestic and international senior business policy trends and future demands targeting the retired generation. The Department of Internet Broadcasting provides systematic education in essential specialized areas for media creators such as YouTubers, taught by professional faculty members active in the broadcasting industry.
Jang Sang-yoon, Director of Admissions at Korea Cyber University, stated, “Our university provides systematic and competitive education through a system that allows 100% online attendance for all courses from classes to exams,” adding, “We are also making multifaceted efforts such as online special lectures via Zoom video conferencing and club activities.”
He continued, “Due to reasonable tuition fees, various scholarship systems, and the ability to study without time and space constraints, many young professionals, working adults, full-time housewives, and retirees enroll every year,” expressing the ambition, “We will continue to develop our system to ensure no shortcomings in untact and non-face-to-face education in the post-COVID-19 era.”
Meanwhile, new students who have graduated (or are expected to graduate) from high school or possess equivalent academic qualifications can apply regardless of their CSAT or school grades. Graduates of junior colleges and those who have completed more than 35 credits at a four-year university can apply as second-year transfer students, and those who have completed two years or four semesters and earned more than 70 credits at a four-year university can apply as third-year transfer students.
Detailed information regarding new and transfer student admissions can be found on the Korea Cyber University admissions website, and inquiries can also be made through the Q&A board or admissions consultation phone line on the admissions website.
