Securing 348 Exam Rooms Across 8 Regions Nationwide

One-Strike-Out Policy Applied to University Facilities Violating Quarantine Rules
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] The Ministry of Education announced that it has prepared separate examination rooms to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) during the university-specific entrance exam evaluations that began on the 4th. On the weekend of the 5th and 6th, following the completion of the College Scholastic Ability Test, a total of 207,000 candidates will move to take the university-specific exams, and on the following weekend of the 12th and 13th, 192,000 candidates are expected to participate.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Yoo Eun-hye held a briefing at the Government Seoul Office that morning, stating, "Candidates who have received self-quarantine notices will take the university-specific exams at regional test centers prepared by the Ministry of Education across eight regions. Currently, 348 examination rooms have been secured to sufficiently accommodate self-quarantined candidates, with 113 rooms allocated in the metropolitan area."
The majority of general candidates will use the regular examination rooms prepared by the universities. Additionally, universities will set up separate examination rooms on exam day for candidates exhibiting symptoms such as fever or other suspicious signs.
The Ministry of Education will operate a focused management period for university-specific exams from the 1st to the 22nd, during which local governments, universities, and public health centers will cooperate and respond through a hotline.
Deputy Prime Minister Yoo emphasized, "While self-transportation is the principle for self-quarantined candidates to reach exam sites, if self-transportation is difficult due to unavoidable circumstances, we will actively support candidate transportation in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and local governments." She added, "In Seoul, where many universities are concentrated, a university entrance exam response team will be formed to intensively inspect quarantine measures around university areas." Facilities that fail to comply with quarantine rules will be subject to a 'one-strike-out' policy.
