[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization will hold the final event of the 'IYKoong Challenge (#IYKoongChallenge)' on the 5th, where young people overseas follow the dance of 'Beomnaeryeoonda' featured in the Korean tourism overseas promotional video and participate in a relay.


This event, held at the non-face-to-face venue 'IYKoong Studio,' will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/Imagine Your korea) and the official TikTok account (tiktok.com/@imagineyourkorea) so that netizens worldwide can enjoy it together.


The purpose of this relay participation is to have young people overseas enjoy the excitement of Korea while naturally experiencing the five major tourism hub cities?Busan, Jeonju, Mokpo, Gangneung, and Andong?and to make these cities the first destinations that come to mind for tourism after the COVID-19 pandemic.


The preliminary round of the IYKoong Challenge was held on TikTok from November 9 to 23. According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the campaign video for the IYKoong Challenge has currently reached 2.8 billion views, and the number of challenge videos submitted has reached 2 million.


In the final event, 1,200 overseas netizens (600 per session) will participate via video call to select six outstanding videos from the 40 challenge videos that advanced to the finals. Outstanding challengers will be awarded airline tickets and accommodation vouchers that can be used when inbound tourism resumes in the future.


During the event, live broadcasts will connect the five major tourism hub cities to introduce the unique charms of each city. The Daylily Band and Ambiguous Dance Company, who gained attention with the Korean tourism overseas promotional video, will also deliver the appeal of Korean regional cities through performances filled with distinctive excitement.


Meanwhile, the Korean tourism overseas promotional video 'Feel the Rhythm of Korea,' created against the fusion gugak background of the Daylily Band, has recently recorded a cumulative 547 million views across global platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, and Baidu.


Building on its great popularity, it has received the Presidential Award for Active Public Administration, won three awards at the '2020 Korea Advertising Awards' hosted by the Korea Advertising Association, and was also recognized overseas by winning the Grand Prize in the Digital Advertising category at the '2020 Tourism Innovation Awards' held in Seville, Spain.
