[2021 Suneung] Slight Increase in Absence Rates for Korean, English, and Math in Gwangju Compared to Last Year

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] The absentee rate for the 2021 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) held on the 3rd in Gwangju Metropolitan City was found to have slightly increased compared to last year.

According to the status of absentees by CSAT subject announced by the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education on the day, the absentee rate for the first period Korean language section was 8.09% (1,323 people), an increase of 2.62% compared to last year's CSAT.

The absentee rate for the second period mathematics section recorded 8.15% (1,307 people), an increase of 2.61% compared to last year.

The third period English section showed an absentee rate of 8.67% (1,416 people), with 2.71% more absentees than last year.

Experts in the admissions industry analyzed this phenomenon as being due to early admission successful candidates, who are not required to meet the minimum CSAT grade, choosing not to take the CSAT considering the special situation (COVID-19).

The total number of CSAT applicants in the Gwangju area this year, based on application submissions, was counted as 16,378.

Meanwhile, in Gwangju, five COVID-19 symptomatic individuals took the CSAT in separate testing centers.

Two self-quarantined individuals took the test in one testing center.
