[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Congressman Shin Jeong-hoon (Naju·Hwasun, Jeonnam) announced on the 3rd that the key projects in Naju City and Hwasun County can proceed without setbacks due to the increase in national budget for these projects in the 2021 government budget bill passed by the National Assembly plenary session on the 2nd.
During the budget review process at the National Assembly, Congressman Shin met with members of the Budget and Accounts Committee and government officials to deliver materials, persuade, and seek cooperation, resulting in an additional increase of 32.7 billion KRW (for 15 projects) beyond the original government budget proposal, securing a total project cost of 370.4 billion KRW.
In particular, focusing on securing national budget for future growth projects in Jeonnam such as Naju’s Energy Valley and Hwasun County’s Bio-Medical Hub project, 9 new projects were included as new initiatives in next year’s government budget.
New projects in the Naju area include ▲Construction of the National Naju Museum Digital Complex Cultural Center (secured 927 million KRW out of total project cost of 19.896 billion KRW) ▲Public wastewater treatment facility in Naju Innovation General Industrial Complex (secured 500 million KRW out of total project cost of 5.8 billion KRW) ▲Establishment of core equipment certification support center for low-voltage direct current in Naju Innovation General Industrial Complex (secured 2 billion KRW out of total project cost of 16 billion KRW) ▲Secondary battery material parts testing and evaluation center (secured 5 billion KRW out of total project cost of 25 billion KRW) ▲Development and demonstration of EV/ESS used battery application products (secured 3 billion KRW out of total project cost of 22 billion KRW) ▲Energy Valley small and medium research and development special zone 6 billion KRW (secured 3.5 billion KRW out of total project cost of 36 billion KRW), totaling 6 projects.
New projects in the Hwasun area include ▲Maintenance of steep slope collapse risk area in Jangchi district, Hwasun (secured 2 billion KRW out of total project cost of 4 billion KRW) ▲Construction of Hwasun Biohealth Convergence Knowledge Industry Center (secured 1 billion KRW out of total project cost of 32 billion KRW), totaling 2 projects.
Among these, the construction of the National Naju Museum Complex Cultural Center (total project cost 19.896 billion KRW) and the Hwasun Biohealth Convergence Knowledge Industry Center (total project cost 32 billion KRW) were regional representative pledges made by Congressman Shin during the last general election, and the budgets for these long-delayed projects have now been reflected, marking the first step of the projects.
Additionally, related budgets were concentrated to establish Naju Energy Valley as a core area for future new industries.
Secured national budgets include ▲Energy-ICT Convergence Knowledge Industry Center 4.05 billion KRW ▲Polytechnic Power Technology Training Center construction 740 million KRW ▲Development and demonstration of large-capacity distributed power source linked MVDC technology 7.9 billion KRW ▲Development of remanufacturing technology for aged power equipment 3 billion KRW (all within the energy special zone), providing momentum for project promotion.
For ongoing projects, ▲Improvement of residential conditions in the innovation city increased by 3.5 billion KRW to 8 billion KRW ▲International Agricultural Expo hosting 2.17 billion KRW ▲Vaccine Safety Technology Support Center construction increased by 770 million KRW to 6.57 billion KRW ▲Healing forest creation increased by 2.5 billion KRW to 4.75 billion KRW ▲Hwasun Dong-myeon-Songgwangbong Mountain national road construction increased by 4 billion KRW to 6.087 billion KRW were secured. ▲Hwasun Yumas Temple tourism resource development project secured 100 million KRW for feasibility study expenses.
