[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Inha University is launching a campaign (Yeonhoejang) to donate year-end and New Year’s party expenses as scholarships to job seekers.
The university plans to provide the raised scholarship funds to prospective graduates amid worsening employment difficulties due to the impact of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The minimum donation amount is 100,000 KRW, and monthly installment donations are also possible. Donors will receive a New Year calendar and Inha University souvenirs next year, and donation receipts will be issued. For inquiries, contact the Inha University Development Cooperation Team at 032-860-7196.
An anonymous Inha University alumnus who donated said, "We canceled all year-end gatherings due to COVID-19," adding, "Although I deeply regret not being able to meet people I want to see, I decided to participate to practice social distancing and to send a small token of support to my juniors at my alma mater."
Earlier, Inha University raised 130 million KRW from alumni and faculty members between March and April this year to provide scholarships to students facing financial difficulties due to the COVID-19 crisis.
An Inha University official stated, "Instead of year-end and New Year’s parties, we launched this campaign with the intention of donating scholarships to senior job seekers to widen physical distance but narrow emotional distance."
