Ministry of Culture and Arts Management Support Center Hold 'Culture and Arts + Business Meeting Day' Online

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Arts Management Support Center announced on the 3rd that the second day event of the '2020 Arts Management Week,' titled 'Culture and Arts + Corporate Meeting Day,' was held online on the afternoon of the 2nd.

'Culture and Arts + Corporate Meeting Day' began in 2015 and marked its 6th year this year. The event was prepared to create a platform for cooperative proposals where culture, arts, and corporations can coexist and thrive together. This year, 41 corporate representatives participated, conducting 80 one-on-one business meetings online, followed by presentations of outstanding cooperative projects.

In the corporate cooperation project contest, a total of seven companies participated, including Hankook Tire Sharing Foundation, Hana Tour Cultural Foundation, CJ CGV, Korea Airports Corporation, Korea Teachers' Credit Union, SK Networks Walkerhill, and Smilegate. Fifteen arts organizations participated in presenting cooperation proposals with corporations. Thirteen corporate panelists also participated online in the on-site judging.

This year, compared to previous years, there were many proposals that diversified the ways of addressing social issues that companies want to solve and considered sustainability in their existing social contribution methods. Additionally, for the first time in the contest, integrated proposals were made by five organizations, including WeRide, pooling their respective capabilities to create collective impact, drawing attention.

Considering suitability for collaboration with proposing companies, feasibility, and originality of the proposal content, a total of four teams received awards. The grand prize went to 88hood Co., Ltd., which proposed an art collaboration project to support the self-sustainability of farms (small business owners) affected by noise around the airport. Aidrun received the top prize for proposing a package that allows the millennial generation to create a new donation culture in hotels. Aidrun also received the Corporate Panelist Award simultaneously. The excellence award went to Jumpers Arts Group for their proposal to improve the self-esteem of low-income youth through mobility support from the Hankook Tire Sharing Foundation and circus education.

Kim Do-il, CEO of the Arts Management Support Center, stated, "There are ideas in culture and arts that can address ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) issues, which have recently become key topics in corporations and investment markets, in various ways. We hope that the various cooperative proposals discovered through the contest will develop into sustainable partnerships despite the COVID-19 situation."
