[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] On the 2nd at 2 PM, the Director of the Safety, Construction, and Transportation Bureau of Changwon City, Gyeongnam, held a briefing at the City Hall Press Center regarding the current status of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) outbreak.
Since November 30, 8 additional confirmed cases have occurred, bringing the city's cumulative confirmed cases to 240 as of 1 PM on the 2nd, with 140 recovered, 99 under treatment, and 1 death.
Among them, the 236th confirmed case is the grandson of the 226th case, who was infected at Arari Danran Pub N branch, and is currently attending an elementary school in the district. The school has suspended in-person classes since the 24th, so it is judged that there will be no further spread of infection within the school.
The 239th confirmed case is an academy instructor, and all 14 students and related persons who had contact tested negative. Their movements and contacts are currently being investigated.
The 241st confirmed case is a close contact who attended the same mountain club meeting as the 229th confirmed case. Among the 15 attendees tested, 13 tested negative except for 2, and they have been placed under self-quarantine.
Additionally, 1,466 close contacts related to Arari Danran Pub were tested, resulting in 41 positive cases, 1,413 negative cases, and 12 still undergoing testing.
Director Choi Youngcheol stated, "Although the number of confirmed cases has somewhat decreased in recent days, it is not yet time to be complacent," and urged, "Each citizen must strictly adhere to quarantine guidelines."
