Expecting Nationwide Expansion Through Fee Reduction and Modeling for Namdaemun Market Small Business Owners

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The Korea Simple Payment Promotion Agency announced on the 2nd that it has signed a business agreement with the Namdaemun Market Merchants Association to promote the use of mobile Onnuri gift certificates.
This agreement was made to expand the use of mobile Onnuri gift certificates for both consumers and small business owners. Going forward, the Korea Simple Payment Promotion Agency will handle mobile gift certificate linkage and promotion, while Namdaemun Market will promote the registration of mobile Onnuri gift certificate affiliated stores within the market.
The mobile Onnuri gift certificate allows not only general consumers but also small business owners to purchase exclusive mobile Onnuri gift certificates at a 10% discounted price. It can be used without payment fees at traditional markets and shopping districts.
Namdaemun Market consists of more than 10,000 stores, including wholesale and retail shops offering various items such as accessories, children's clothing, flowers, and imported goods. If the small business owner mobile Onnuri gift certificate is activated in Namdaemun Market, small business owners from all over the country who use Namdaemun Market will be able to purchase products at discounted prices, and the use of small business owner mobile Onnuri gift certificates is expected to spread nationwide.
Meanwhile, with the business agreement between Zero Pay and WeChat Pay, WeChat Pay payments have become possible at Zero Pay affiliated stores. Namdaemun Market, which is frequented by many Chinese tourists, is expected to see increased sales for small business owners within the market through WeChat Pay payments at Zero Pay affiliated stores.
Yoon Wansu, Chairman of the Korea Simple Payment Promotion Agency, said, “We expect many consumers to visit Namdaemun Market once the mobile Onnuri gift certificate is activated through this business agreement,” adding, “We also aim to ease the payment fee burden on Namdaemun Market merchants through the mobile Onnuri gift certificate to support them during difficult times.”
