"Unfair Attempt to Oust Yoon Seok-yeol Recognized"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Joo Ho-young, floor leader of the People Power Party, commented on the court's decision on the 1st to temporarily suspend the order excluding Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol from his duties, saying, "I think it is a very natural decision based on law and conscience, and I actively welcome it," adding, "The illegal actions by Minister of Justice Chu Mi-ae, who relentlessly tried to remove Yoon Seok-yeol by any means, have been halted by the court, and the unfairness has been recognized."
At a press conference held at the National Assembly on the same day, Floor Leader Joo said, "President Moon Jae-in must immediately dismiss Minister Chu, who went through an illegal process recklessly, and both President Moon and Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun, who stood by without taking action until the situation reached this point, owe the people a proper apology."
Regarding the motion to impeach Minister Chu, Floor Leader Joo stated, "It is currently on hold to avoid influencing today's deliberations," and added, "Depending on the situation, we cannot rule out the possibility of leading the impeachment again."
On contentious bills, Floor Leader Joo said, "If the Democratic Party of Korea pushes through without sufficient deliberation by numbers, we will do everything possible to block it," and added, "If they participate in proper deliberations for sound legislation, we will join the discussions and work to enhance the completeness and accuracy of the laws."
Regarding the boycott of the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee, Floor Leader Joo explained, "The reason the committee members are not participating in the deliberations is due to defamation and disrespect by the committee chairman," and said, "I understand they are refusing while demanding an apology, and we will strive to resolve the situation."
