According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 1st, 2 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 720.
Case number 719, a resident of Munheung-dong, Buk-gu, was confirmed to be related to the workplace sports club connected to the index patient, case number 676.
So far, 24 confirmed cases have been linked to workplace sports clubs: 4 related to Emart, 5 related to Kia Motors Gwangju Plant, 2 related to Samsung Electronics, 3 related to Kumho Tire Gokseong Plant, and 10 others.
Regarding Emart Gwangju branch, 464 employees and others have been tested, with 64 currently awaiting results.
At Kia Motors Gwangju Plant, 93 people have been tested, with 8 awaiting results, and at Samsung Electronics Gwangju Plant, 624 have been tested, with 8 awaiting results.
Case number 720, a resident of Hwajeong-dong, Seo-gu, is known to be related to case number 306 in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul. Currently, there are 5 confirmed cases related to Dongdaemun-gu case 306: numbers 696, 703, 715, 718, and 720.
After the family member (case 696) of Dongdaemun-gu case 306 was confirmed positive, secondary infections occurred involving two coworkers of case 696 (cases 703 and 715), and the family and coworkers of case 703 (cases 718 and 720).
Following the confirmation of cases among students at Unnam Middle School and Salesio Elementary School the previous day, testing is being conducted for 2nd and 3rd graders at Unnam Middle School, while all 3rd to 6th graders at Salesio Elementary School tested negative.
