[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Mediana, a global specialist company in patient monitoring devices, defibrillators, and body composition analyzers, announced on the 1st that it has obtained certification as an ‘Innovative Medical Device Company’ from the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
This program is a system that supports companies equipped with research and development and global market entry capabilities in accordance with the enforcement of the ‘Medical Device Industry Promotion and Innovative Medical Device Support Act.’ Companies are selected through deliberation by the Medical Device Industry Promotion and Support Committee. Selected companies maintain certification qualifications for three years from today until November 30, 2023, and receive the Innovative Medical Device Company certification mark.
In the future, preferential treatment and additional points will be given for government support projects such as cross-ministerial full-cycle medical device R&D and domestic new product user evaluation projects. In addition, various policy benefits in the fields of manpower, finance, and consulting will continue, including ▲tax and regulatory relaxation ▲establishment of dedicated funds and linkage with policy financial institution loan support projects ▲support for employment of specialized personnel and professional education for current employees ▲dedicated consulting support for companies.
A Mediana official said, “This certification applied strict evaluation criteria such as medical device R&D investment performance, related external cooperation activities, domestic and international licensing acquisition performance, and compliance with medical device distribution systems and sales order,” adding, “It is a meaningful achievement that Mediana was included in this result, which was narrowed down to a small number of domestic companies.” He continued, “Since corporate social responsibility, ethics, and management transparency were included in the evaluation items, our company’s credibility has also been proven,” and added, “We will achieve greater growth with government support based on our technology and R&D capabilities.”
