[Asia Economy Reporter Park So-yeon] Hyundai Oilbank announced on the 30th that it held a Love Kimchi Sharing event on the 24th in Seosan-si, Chungnam, to help neighbors in need get through the winter. Despite the sudden drop in temperature and biting wind, about 120 people including Hyundai Oilbank employees and their families, as well as residents of Daesan-eup, participated. Participants strictly followed COVID-19 prevention guidelines such as wearing masks, temperature checks, hand sanitization, and managing participant lists.
The Love Kimchi Sharing event by Hyundai Oilbank is now in its 9th year. On this day, participants carefully made kimchi using 3,000 heads of napa cabbage. All vegetables and ingredients used for the kimchi, including cabbage, radish, garlic, red pepper powder, and salted seafood, were sourced from farms and fisheries near the factory. This event created a place of regional harmony and coexistence, combining the harvests earned by local farmers and fishermen in the Daesan area over the year with the dedication of Hyundai Oilbank employees.
The kimchi made that day is scheduled to be delivered to socially isolated neighbors such as elderly people living alone in the region. Hyundai Oilbank also decided to share 3,000 kg of rice along with the kimchi. A Hyundai Oilbank official said, "We thank everyone who participated in the cold weather, and Hyundai Oilbank will continue to actively support regional development."
Meanwhile, Hyundai Oilbank annually purchases 1 billion KRW worth of newly harvested rice produced in the Seosan area to support farmers and shares the purchased rice with neighbors in need. It also contributes to increasing fishermen's income by releasing rockfish juveniles into the waters off Samgilpo.
