'LG Wing' Launches in India... Targeting India with Contactless Marketing

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] LG Electronics is launching its strategic smartphone 'LG Wing' in India.

LG Electronics will release the LG Wing on the 30th through major Indian online shopping malls such as Flipkart and Amazon. Considering the restrictions on outdoor activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company is focusing on expanding non-face-to-face contact points.

They are conducting the 'Explore the new' campaign in collaboration with about 50 Indian influencers. In this campaign, influencers personally use and introduce the unique features of the LG Wing, such as 'how to use swivel mode' and 'gimbal motion camera.' This is to efficiently convey the product's advantages in situations where it is difficult to physically try the product.

The Indian smartphone market size reaches 145 million units, making it the second largest in the world after China, with active video content consumption. According to market research firm ComScore, more than 265 million people in India watched YouTube monthly last year.

The LG Wing is optimized for watching video content. The main screen features a 6.8-inch OLED FullVision display with a 20.5:9 aspect ratio, and unlike regular smartphones, it has no front camera area on the screen, maximizing immersion when watching videos. In swivel mode, users can comfortably hold the second screen with one hand while watching videos.

To maximize the advantages of its form factor, the LG Wing is the world's first to apply the 'gimbal motion camera' interface. A gimbal is a professional device that, when shooting videos with a smartphone or camera, moves in the opposite direction of camera shake, enabling stable and smooth video recording.

Jung Soo-heon, Vice President and Head of LG Electronics MC Overseas Sales Group, said, "India is one of the smartphone markets with high growth potential worldwide," adding, "We will target the Indian market by emphasizing the differentiated convenience of the LG Wing."
