Mayor Kwon expressed special gratitude, saying, "I deeply thank the medical staff at Daegu Medical Center who diagnosed stomach cancer early during the health checkup process, and all the medical staff at Chilgok Kyungpook National University Hospital, including Professor Kwon Oh-kyung, who performed the surgery and treatment excellently," especially conveying special thanks to the nurses of Ward 62.
He said, "The stomach cancer was detected early, the surgery went well, and the progress is good, but it seems some time is still needed to fully recover to daily life," adding, "I will strive to return to city administration as soon as possible."
Mayor Kwon was hospitalized at Chilgok Kyungpook National University Hospital on the morning of the 19th after showing early symptoms of stomach cancer during a regular health checkup, and underwent laparoscopic surgery on the 20th.
