[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The government has decided to provide a total of $700,000 in humanitarian aid to three countries?Colombia, Honduras, and Nicaragua?that were affected by Hurricane Iota, which recently struck the Latin American region.
Hurricane Iota is a more powerful Category 5 hurricane compared to Hurricane Eta, a Category 4 hurricane that occurred earlier this month. The storm has caused increasing casualties and property damage due to flooding from heavy rain and damage to key infrastructure such as roads and bridges.
An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, "Following Hurricane Eta, our government hopes that this support will help the people of Colombia, Honduras, and Nicaragua, where recovery has become more difficult due to the stronger hurricane."
