[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] The KOSPI, which started off slightly weak, turned to a firm upward trend in the afternoon with a slight rise. The KOSDAQ expanded its gains to over 1%.


As of 1:27 PM on the 27th, the KOSPI recorded 2630.30, up 0.17% (4.39 points) from the previous day. It started at 2624.80, down 0.04% (1.11 points) from the previous day, then showed a slight recovery.


Foreigners and individual investors showed notable buying strength. Foreigners net bought 73 billion KRW, and individuals net bought 266.5 billion KRW. Institutions net sold 336.5 billion KRW.


More sectors rose than fell. The paper and wood sector rose the most at 5%. This was followed by non-metallic minerals (2.33%), medical precision instruments (1.45%), machinery (1.20%), and telecommunications (1.10%). On the other hand, insurance (-0.77%), securities (-0.64%), and steel & metals (-0.59%) declined.


Among the top 10 market capitalization stocks, only Celltrion (1.0%), Hyundai Motor (0.8%), Samsung Biologics (0.2%), and Samsung Electronics (0.1%) rose. LG Chem (-0.8%), SK Hynix (-0.7%), Kakao (-0.5%), NAVER (-0.3%), and LG Household & Health Care (-0.1%) fell. Samsung SDI remained unchanged.


At the same time, the KOSDAQ recorded 883.52, up 1.03% (9.02 points) from the previous trading day. It started at 876.37, up 0.21% (1.84 points) from the previous day, then widened its gains.


Foreigners' buying led the index's rise, with net purchases of 177.4 billion KRW. Meanwhile, individuals and institutions net sold 155.1 billion KRW and 10.1 billion KRW, respectively.


Almost all sectors are on the rise. Similar to the KOSPI, the paper and wood sector had the largest gain at 5.01%. This was followed by distribution (3.77%), pharmaceuticals (1.58%), telecommunication services (1.45%), and IT components (1.39%). Only software (-0.30%), metals (-0.18%), other manufacturing (-0.11%), and transportation equipment & parts (-0.06%) declined.


Most of the top 10 market capitalization stocks are rising. Seegene had the largest gain at 7.5%. Celltrion Healthcare also rose 6.2%. This was followed by Alteogen (1.4%), EcoPro BM (1.3%), Genexine (1.0%), and KM Healthcare (0.1%). HLB (-0.8%) declined. CJ ENM and Celltrion Pharm recorded no change.
