[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] Recently, a series of incidents suspected to be failed attempts to abduct elementary school students have occurred in Gyeonggi Province, causing residents to live in fear.


On the 26th, MBC's "News Desk" reported that unidentified individuals in Gyeonggi Province approached elementary school children by saying things like "I will show you a cat" or "I will give you a ride home," but the children ran away, resulting in failed attempts.


According to the report, on the 18th, in front of an elementary school crosswalk in Guri, Gyeonggi Province, a strange middle-aged woman rolled down her car window and spoke to a first-grade female student, saying, "I will give you a ride home, get in."


The child immediately ran away, and her mother reported the incident to the school. The school informed all students of the incident and urged caution.

On the afternoon of the 24th, a similar incident occurred in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province.


A third-grade female student was walking from home to an academy when a strange man in a black sedan spoke to her, saying, "I will show you the cat inside the car."


Feeling threatened, the girl screamed and ran away, and immediately informed her parents.


As this information became known, residents are anxiously worried that such incidents might happen to their own children.


The police are checking closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and conducting inquiries to confirm any connection between the two incidents while tracking the suspects.
