[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) will operate a response center to support export companies in handling intellectual property disputes.
On the 26th, KIPO announced that it has opened the 'Intellectual Property Rights Dispute Response Center' at the Korea Intellectual Property Protection Agency to resolve and support disputes between domestic companies and overseas firms.
The response center is launched to effectively address issues such as patent disputes and K-brand infringements.
Considering the increased potential for disputes with Japanese companies during the localization process of materials, parts, and equipment technologies, and the frequent cases of indiscriminate use of domestic companies' intellectual property rights overseas due to the Korean Wave, the response center aims to play a practical role in protecting companies.
To this end, the response center will focus on providing one-stop support for patent disputes related to materials, parts, and equipment, collaborating with the KAIST Materials, Parts, and Equipment Technology Advisory Group for patent dispute support, and assisting in blocking K-brand infringements overseas.
Kim Yong-rae, Commissioner of KIPO, stated, “The response center will serve as a guardian in addressing domestic companies' dispute issues through cooperation between KAIST materials, parts, and equipment technology experts and patent dispute specialists.”
