[Asia Economy (Gongju) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Four additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported at a nursing hospital in Gongju, Chungnam, which is under cohort isolation.
According to Chungnam Province and Gongju City on the 26th, three patients and one caregiver at Purume Nursing Hospital tested positive for COVID-19 on that day.
The confirmed cases are in their 60s to 90s, and it has been confirmed that they have no external movement history.
Health authorities plan to transfer these confirmed patients from the nursing hospital to isolation treatment hospitals for care.
Earlier, Purume Nursing Hospital showed signs of a cluster infection starting on the 23rd with a nurse in her 40s (Sejong case number 88) and a nursing assistant (Sejong case number 89).
After the initial two infected individuals were identified, health authorities conducted comprehensive testing of nursing hospital staff and patients, resulting in 13 confirmed cases the following day (3 nurses and 10 patients).
The total number of confirmed cases linked to Purume Nursing Hospital has reached 23 so far. This includes four contacts of confirmed cases not directly related to the hospital (1 in Goyang and 3 in Sejong).
