Sending Gifts Even Without KakaoTalk Friends: 'Code Gift' Launched

[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] From now on, you can send 'KakaoTalk gifts' to people who are not your KakaoTalk friends.

Kakao Commerce announced on the 26th that it has introduced the Code Gift feature.

With this feature, you can easily use the gift service without exchanging contact information or registering as KakaoTalk friends.

On the product page, select 'Create Gift Code' and complete the payment to generate a code consisting of letters and numbers. This code can be sent through various platforms such as text messages and social networking services (SNS), in addition to KakaoTalk.

The recipient can receive the gift by pressing 'Register Gift Code' in the KakaoTalk gift box and entering the code.

Kakao Commerce explained that code gifts are expected to be useful among 'Gachwi-gwan' (a newly coined term referring to relationships based on light preferences) met online through SNS or communities.

Code gifts can also be used for various business purposes such as online sweepstakes events.

A Kakao Commerce official said, "We introduced the Code Gift service to resolve user inconveniences and meet demand in response to the emergence of new types of interpersonal relationships," adding, "It allows anonymous gifting to online friends without exposing personal information."
