[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] County Governor Park Woo-ryang detailed the achievements of this year's county administration and the direction of next year's county administration at the regular session of the Shinan County Council on the 25th.
Governor Park cited the creation of the best contactless tourist destination as a major achievement, resulting from innovative planning and investment looking ahead 100 years, based on the natural environment and abundant historical and cultural resources unique to each island over the past two years.
First, he expressed gratitude to the residents who supported him, saying, "Using the leisure time created by COVID-19, like temporarily closing a store to renovate the interior, we will once again re-examine all projects," and emphasized, "At a time when overseas travel is difficult for all citizens, we will focus all our capabilities to make 1004 Islands Shinan stand tall as the center of island tourism, replacing overseas travel destinations."
In particular, he announced plans to focus on projects linked to residents' income, such as the One Island One Museum project, creating beautiful islands with dense forests and flowers blooming in all four seasons, and projects that add wonderful stories to small islands.
To this end, despite the difficult financial conditions with available resources decreasing by 57 billion won compared to this year, including a 14.7 billion won cut in next year's ordinary local allocation tax, Shinan County prepared a budget totaling 583.7 billion won (561.1 billion won in the general account and 22.6 billion won in the special account) and submitted it to the county council.
The directions for county administration that Governor Park will focus on next year include implementing various policies to increase residents' income, creating the 1004 Islands blooming with flowers in all four seasons with a 100-year vision, promoting the One Island One Museum project, fostering new growth engine industries, developing into a marine cultural and artistic tourism hub, and realizing local administration together with residents.
Governor Park Woo-ryang stated, "We will continue to think from the residents' perspective with a humble attitude and carry out proactive administration in the residents' interest," and added, "We will do our best until residents are satisfied and happy through fair and transparent handling of affairs."
