[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Ahn Cheol-soo, leader of the People’s Party, criticized on the 26th the actions of Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae, who excluded Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol from his duties and requested disciplinary action, saying, “Minister Choo committed an unprecedented abuse of authority by demanding disciplinary action and excluding Prosecutor General Yoon from his duties, acting like the stepmother’s daughter who is spiteful toward the prince taken away from Cinderella.” He added, “The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea, which symbolizes the rule of law and justice of the nation, has become a chaotic nightclub where a ruffian dances with a sword.”

At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Ahn said, “At this point, President Moon Jae-in should at least say something as the minimum duty to the people. Yet the president has always remained silent at critical moments,” and added, “The silence of someone in a responsible position is not a symbol of solemnity but a symbol of cowardice.”

Ahn stated, “The people all know. The problem is not Patjwi but Patjwi’s mother. Therefore, it is only natural that the responsibility lies with Patjwi’s mother, not Patjwi,” and pointed out, “Minister Choo’s reckless behavior is a declaration that this regime is the real corrupt force.”

Ahn said, “A leader is not someone who causes trouble and then hides. Is the president really at the Blue House? Or is he perhaps on a long overseas trip? Don’t hide behind the party leader who is overreacting in a rush for pro-Moon votes and the Red Guards,” and added, “It’s also tiresome to hide behind the ringleaders like Minister Choo and Minister Kim Hyun-mi of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. The president, who is the main body of the government’s collapse and the ultimate protagonist of chaotic politics, should come forward directly, apologize to the people, and take responsibility for all these ‘unprecedented crises.’”

Regarding Prosecutor General Yoon, Ahn said, “It must be lonely and difficult, but please endure and fight to the end for democracy and the rule of law,” and added, “Fight and win to thoroughly investigate and severely punish corruption in the living power. The people will also support Prosecutor General Yoon and the righteous prosecutors.”
