[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-eun] Regarding the Ministry of Justice's suspension of Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon criticized on the 26th, saying, "The people of this regime (Moon Jae-in administration) seem to be a different species rather than Homo sapiens. Isn't their brain structure fundamentally different?"
On the same day, former professor Jin shared a video on his Facebook in which Choo Mi-ae, then a Democratic Party lawmaker and now Minister of Justice, criticized former Prime Minister Chung Hong-won over the resignation scandal of Prosecutor General Chae Dong-wook in 2013, saying, "Didn't you drive out a hardworking prosecutor general?" and "In such a situation, can the public expect an investigation result they can accept?"
He then said, "A letter I send to myself. Past Choo Mi-ae to the Constitutional Court's Choo Mi-ae."
Also, in another post on the 25th, former professor Jin said, "This is not a personal conflict between Choo Mi-ae and Yoon Seok-yeol," adding, "It is a clash between two different concepts of democracy." He continued, "The outdated people's democracy customs of the 1980s activist groups clash with the liberal democracy system emphasizing separation of powers and due process," criticizing, "The activist groups have now become an obstacle to social development. In just three and a half years, they have undergone 'compressed corruption.'"
Meanwhile, on the 24th, Minister Choo suspended Prosecutor General Yoon from his duties and requested disciplinary action. In response, Prosecutor General Yoon filed an online injunction with the court on the night of the 25th, just one day after his suspension, seeking a stay of the suspension order issued by Minister Choo.
