Xi Jinping: "We Must Strengthen Military Training to Enhance War Victory Capability"

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Chun-hee] Chinese President Xi Jinping has ordered the military to strengthen practical military training to comprehensively enhance the ability to win wars.

President Xi made these remarks at a meeting of the Communist Party Central Military Commission on military training on the 25th, according to the state-run Xinhua News Agency. At the meeting, President Xi said that the new era Party’s strong military ideology and military strategic guidelines should be implemented, focusing on firmly establishing war preparedness so that the Chinese People's Liberation Army becomes a world-class military force.

He reiterated the call for military training under real combat conditions and stated that with changes in China’s security environment, military posture, military missions and organization, forms of modern warfare, and goals for the modernization of national defense and the military, military training has entered a new stage, instructing to "accelerate the upgrading of military training."

President Xi’s remarks came amid intense pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump on China. Analysts also interpret the recent series of large-scale military exercises conducted by China in the South China Sea as direct and indirect warning messages to Taiwan and the United States.
