"COVID-19 Situation Worsens" Busan Gijang-gun Locks Down Again... Events and Gatherings Suspended as Strong Measures On the 25th at 5 PM, Busan Gijang-gun held an emergency COVID-19 countermeasure meeting chaired by County Governor Oh Gyu-seok, with all department heads in attendance.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] As COVID-19 trends toward a resurgence, Busan's Gijang-gun has decided to once again "lock down" public facilities.

On the 25th at 5 p.m., Gijang-gun held an emergency COVID-19 countermeasure meeting chaired by County Governor Oh Gyu-seok, with all department heads in attendance, to prepare preemptive measures in response to the recent surge in confirmed cases in the Busan area.

Starting from midnight on the 27th, Gijang-gun will completely suspend operations of all public facilities within the region.

However, for indoor and outdoor sports facilities, already contracted training camps will be allowed entry only for athletes, provided they comply with quarantine guidelines.

The facilities to be closed include ▲7 public libraries and 61 small libraries, ▲Gijang-Hyundai Dream Ballpark, ▲Jangancheon Baseball Stadium, ▲World Cup Village, ▲Cheolma Sports Facilities, ▲Sodubang Sports Park, ▲Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, ▲Gijang Life Sports Center (swimming pool, gym), ▲Gijang-gun National Sports Center (swimming pool, gym), ▲Youth Training Center, ▲Cultural Etiquette School, ▲Youth Counseling Welfare Center, and ▲resident communal facilities (sports facilities, community spaces) within apartment complexes.

Additionally, Gijang-gun plans to re-inspect compliance with quarantine rules for organizations, institutions, and facilities managed and supervised by each department, and will continue distributing hand sanitizers.

The ‘COVID-19 On-site Guidance Inspection Team,’ composed of all employees and in operation since last September, will be further strengthened.

The inspection team is led by the county governor as head, with the deputy governor as deputy head, directors as team leaders, and department heads as squad leaders, organized into four teams in total.

The team will ensure strict adherence to quarantine rules such as visitor log creation, temperature checks, and hand sanitizer use at priority and general management facilities as well as multi-use facilities.

With mask-wearing now mandatory, the team will also inform about fines for non-compliance and focus on guidance and educational activities.

The inspection team will continuously distribute hand sanitizers to all self-employed business owners.

All departments in Gijang-gun will fully suspend all events, gatherings, and meetings. At the eup and myeon levels, all meetings including village chief meetings will be conducted remotely, and all meeting rooms within government buildings will be completely closed.

From the 26th until COVID-19 stabilizes, Gijang-gun will hold daily ‘COVID-19 Situation Check Meetings’ at 9 a.m. in the 380-seat Cha-seong Art Hall, attended by eup and myeon heads and all department heads, chaired by the county governor.

Oh Gyu-seok, Gijang-gun County Governor, stated, “Until the severe spread of COVID-19 is brought under control, we will mobilize all possible means at the basic local government level to implement the strongest quarantine measures.”

Governor Oh ordered, “Libraries, social welfare centers, and indoor and outdoor sports facilities will suspend operations starting this Friday, and all departments should focus on on-site COVID-19 guidance inspections targeting all facilities within the jurisdiction, including restaurants, cafes, institutions, and companies.”
