Songpa-gu Offers Free Electrical Safety Inspection Service to 'Good Landlords'

Partnering with Korea Electrical Safety Corporation for Winter Inspections... Managing Safety and Local Businesses with Inspections Worth 20 Million Won

Songpa-gu Offers Free Electrical Safety Inspection Service to 'Good Landlords'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Songpa-gu District Office (Mayor Park Seong-su) is conducting free electrical safety inspections for “Good Landlords” who have joined the rent reduction campaign in collaboration with the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation as winter approaches.

Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, small business owners are facing difficulties in operations caused by a sharp decline in customers and assembly ban orders, resulting in situations where they cannot even pay rent.

In response, the district is promoting the “Good Landlord Support Project” to encourage rent reductions and help tenants find a way out.

This free electrical safety inspection will be conducted on 50 buildings selected as “Good Landlords” by Songpa-gu. The Korea Electrical Safety Corporation will visit in person to inspect mainly the vulnerable electrical safety areas of the buildings. The total cost is approximately 20 million KRW.

Especially in winter, when electricity usage increases, it is necessary to inspect equipment such as leakage circuit breakers to prevent secondary accidents like electric shocks or fires.

The building owners selected as “Good Landlords” said, “We joined the ‘Good Landlord Support Project’ for the coexistence of landlords and tenants, but we are just grateful to receive electrical inspections from a credible institution.”

Songpa-gu has supported building repair costs and provided quarantine supplies through the “Good Landlord Project,” and based on cases of rent reductions for several months, it is making every effort to revitalize the local commercial district.

A representative from the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation said, “We are pleased to participate in this meaningful work while ensuring safety during the winter season.”

Songpa-gu Mayor Park Seong-su expressed his gratitude, saying, “I thank the ‘Good Landlords’ who have come together with a spirit of coexistence despite difficult circumstances and the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation,” and emphasized, “We will actively develop policies that support small business owners so that the local commercial district can regain vitality and overcome the COVID-19 crisis.”
