[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] Shinhan Card announced on the 25th that it held a presentation sharing the results of its in-house venture through Visa's startup support program, a global credit card brand company.
The company selected for this Visa startup support program is 'Adventure,' which won the grand prize among Shinhan Card's in-house ventures in 2019 and is currently operating the customer-tailored shopping information subscription service app called 'Before Shopping.'
Adventure identified customer inconveniences and demands through in-depth user interviews and reflected user-friendly UI/UX and differentiated features in the Before Shopping app. They added a 'Local Tag' feature that allows users to directly post information such as local discounts and events, and established a channel where franchise owners can receive marketing support and promote themselves through linkage with Shinhan Card's small business win-win marketing platform, 'My Shop Partner.' As a result, as of November 2020, the monthly active users (MAU) of Before Shopping grew by 55% compared to September 2020, and further growth is expected through the introduction of additional solutions.
The consulting presentation was held at Shinhan Card headquarters in Euljiro, Seoul, attended by Yoo Jin Lee, Vice President of Visa Korea, Joo Yeon Lee, Vice President of Visa Korea, Dong Kwon Moon, Head of Shinhan Card's Management Planning Group, and in-house venture stakeholders. It was conducted in an untact manner via video connection with Visa Singapore Innovation Center and Visa Japan Innovation Center.
Since 2018, Shinhan Card has been operating a startup support program called 'I'm Ventures,' which collaborates not only with in-house ventures but also with external startups. Since 2019, it has been jointly operating the startup nurturing program 'I'm Ventures with Visa' with Visa Korea to promote the fintech industry and revitalize the startup ecosystem.
A Shinhan Card official said, "We support and encourage in-house ventures with market competitiveness to freely express their creativity at the company level," adding, "In connection with Shinhan Financial Group's Neo Project, we will continue to nurture and discover new business opportunities for innovative finance suitable for the post-COVID-19 era."
