[Asia Economy Reporter Bu Aeri] In the future, you will be able to control your living space itself by voice through Kakao with the 'Smart Place'.
Kakao Enterprise announced on the 23rd that it will collaborate with AI (artificial intelligence) specialized company Commax in the smart home and multi-family housing Internet of Things (IoT) business.
Commax is a company that provides converged solutions linking intercoms, video phones, home network systems, and security.
In 2017, Kakao partnered with Commax to install the AI platform 'Kakao i' on Commax's flagship smart home device, the 'Wallpad'.
Through the Commax Wallpad equipped with Kakao i, users can control in-home IoT devices and use services related to apartment common areas by voice. Additionally, various unique Kakao services provided through Kakao i are also available.
This business agreement expands the scope of the existing collaboration. Kakao i will be installed not only on Wallpads but also on various Commax smart home products used in new multi-family housing and other living spaces, enabling the use of various services and content through voice commands.
Previously, only in-home IoT devices such as lighting and ventilation could be controlled via the smart speaker 'Kakao Mini' and the smart home mobile app 'Kakao Home'. Now, network and security equipment applied to common areas of apartments, officetels, villas, and detached houses can be controlled by voice commands beyond the home.
For example, it is expected that services such as calling the elevator by voice, checking available parking spaces or your parking location, and verifying parcel locker storage will be available.
Baek Sangyeop, CEO of Kakao Enterprise, said, "By combining Kakao Enterprise's AI technology with smart home products, both companies will continue to cooperate to allow more customers to experience innovation in their daily lives."
