[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] LS Cable & System announced on the 24th that it has signed a '5-year priority supply contract for ultra-high voltage submarine cables' with Ørsted, the world's No. 1 offshore wind power developer based in Denmark.
LS Cable & System has been building a cooperative relationship with Ørsted by carrying out cable installation projects for some of the world's largest offshore wind farms, including the Hornsea project in the UK and the Changhua Offshore Wind Farm in Taiwan.
Myung Nohyun, CEO of LS Cable & System, said, "Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, countries continue to invest in renewable energy," adding, "We expect business expansion by strengthening cooperation with leading companies in the global offshore wind market."
Matthias Bausenwein, Head of Ørsted Asia Pacific, stated, "The offshore wind market is rapidly growing, centered on the Asia-Pacific region," and added, "To lead the global market, reliable cable partners with competitiveness like LS Cable & System are essential."
