[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) has published ‘Gangdong Space (Living in Gangdong, Falling for the Space),’ which emotionally introduces major spaces focusing on resident convenience facilities (living SOC).

‘Gangdong Space’ is composed of a total of four parts (51 locations) categorized by user groups and characteristics: ‘The Beginning of Gangdong,’ covering environmental and natural attractions as well as childcare and educational spaces worth visiting in Gangdong-gu; ‘The Growth of Gangdong,’ featuring economic-related facilities and spaces available for young adults; ‘The Leisure of Gangdong,’ introducing cultural and sports facilities and spaces for the elderly; and ‘The Value of Gangdong,’ organizing welfare facilities and spaces for people with disabilities.

With large-scale apartment reconstruction nearing completion, Gangdong-gu expects its population to approach 550,000 by 2023. The newly published space guidebook is anticipated to be very helpful for new residents to get to know the area.

Additionally, the book introduces living SOC facilities that have been significantly expanded since the 7th local government administration, providing outing information that is expected to benefit residents who prefer neighborhood excursions amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, “The spaces introduced in the book are places where residents feel Gangdong the most and frequently visit, and they offer many benefits when used by residents. We will continue to create spaces that satisfy various resident needs and strive to ensure that residents make full use of them.”
