[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] Shinhan Financial Group announced on the 23rd that it has selected the first membership of the startup nurturing platform 'Shinhan Square Bridge: Incheon' and will begin full-scale nurturing.
Shinhan Financial is promoting the ‘Shinhan Triple-K Project,’ composed of Korea Cross Country, Korea to Global, and K-Unicorn, to discover startups and create a new growth ecosystem combining industry and finance.
As part of the ‘Korea Cross Country Plan,’ it is building a nationwide startup nurturing space and providing various programs such as startup discovery, incubation, investment, and global expansion through its representative brand, 'Shinhan Square Bridge.'
After a two-month screening process starting in August, Shinhan Financial selected a total of 84 companies in three fields: incubation, accelerating, and global, as the first membership of Shinhan Square Bridge: Incheon.
First, 16 startups were selected for the incubation membership to nurture early-stage startups, including ‘Petit,’ which operates a pet taxi service, and ‘Umtul,’ which develops bio-pharmaceutical materials.
Additionally, 16 startups were selected for the accelerating membership, which supports investment at various startup stages, including ‘Collab Team,’ well known for its untact collaboration tool, and ‘Team Blackbird,’ which provides cryptocurrency anti-money laundering solutions.
For the global membership, companies such as ‘Simple Project Company,’ which operates the shared kitchen ‘WeCook,’ ‘Coconut Silo,’ which develops an international cargo transport brokerage platform, and ‘Quantum Intelligence,’ which develops a new drug development platform, were selected. Selected companies will be offered opportunities to enter overseas markets through global partnerships.
Meanwhile, companies selected for this first membership will commonly receive a wide range of services, including free office space and welfare facilities rental, investor relations (IR) consulting, investment through dedicated funds, and global accelerating programs.
To focus on nurturing startups in specialized fields such as the 4th industrial revolution and bio-healthcare, programs linked with various partners including Shinhan Future’s Lab and Celltrion will also be supported.
A Shinhan Financial official said, “We hope this membership program will serve as a stepping stone for many companies dreaming of becoming unicorns to take a leap forward,” and added, “We will continue to lead the creation of the startup ecosystem through various projects and do our best to support successful global expansion.”
