Cumulative Confirmed Cases in Gyeongbuk Region Reach 1,625 as of Midnight on the 23rd

According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 23rd, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the region as of midnight increased by 4 from the previous day to 1,625. In Gyeongbuk Province, after a brief slowdown in new confirmed cases on November 13-14, the number surged to 71 over the past eight days since the 15th, raising concerns among local residents.
In Yeongju City, two people, including the wife and an acquaintance of an elderly person (the 7th case in the region) who tested positive on the 21st, were confirmed positive in contact tracing tests. In response, Yeongju City has set up an additional screening clinic in front of the public health center and is conducting mass testing on 480 contacts.
In Andong, infections are spreading among the family members and close contacts of four people who tested positive after visiting Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province on the 18th. One more case was reported on the 22nd following the cases on the 21st.
In Pohang, a contact of a worker who tested positive after returning to the Pohang office following a visit to their home in Guri on the 20th was confirmed positive on the 22nd.
Kim Jin-hyun, Director of Welfare and Health at Gyeongbuk Province, urged residents to refrain from unnecessary gatherings and events and to comply with personal quarantine rules to protect the safety of their beloved family and friends, as infections are spreading in daily life.
Meanwhile, at Gimcheon University in Gimcheon City, which had been experiencing a chain infection trend, no additional confirmed cases were reported on the 22nd. At this university, after three students tested positive on the 19th, seven more students tested positive on the 20th. On the 21st, three additional cases were confirmed, including one student, one student contact, and one PC room operator, bringing the total number of confirmed cases related to this university to 13 (11 students).
