[Asia Economy Reporter Nah Han-ah] Former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk recently expressed support for the government's ongoing project to build the 'Busan Gadukdo New Airport,' but it has come to light that he opposed the construction of the Southeast region new airport in the past. In response, Professor Kim Geun-sik of the Department of Political Science and Diplomacy at Gyeongnam National University (People Power Party's Seoul Songpa-byeong District Committee Chairman) criticized, asking if it was wrong then and right now.
On the 22nd, Professor Kim wrote on his Facebook, "If you don't want to be embarrassed, check your own (former Minister Cho's) tweets before jumping in," making this remark.
Previously, in 2012 during the Lee Myung-bak administration, former Minister Cho posted on Twitter about the Southeast region new airport construction, stating, "With 10 trillion won for the new airport, 10 years of free high school education is possible, and with 22 trillion won invested in the Four Major Rivers Project, basic livelihood security recipients could be supported for 3 years."
However, regarding the Gadukdo New Airport construction currently promoted by the government and ruling party, he expressed support by proposing to name the new airport 'Gadukdo Roh Moo Hyun International Airport.'
Professor Kim pointed out, "Was it wrong then and right now? Do I not remember what I said?" and asked, "Does that mean you can just change what you say later again?"
He added, "You might as well just talk about prosecutorial reform and suing reporters; even if it's nonsense, at least that has consistency."
